REMINDER - Shakespeare Lives 2016: Call for academic speakers at events around the world

Become part of the British Council’s Shakespeare Lives programme - share your expertise at our talks around the globe.

Shakespeare Lives is a major programme of international events and activities celebrating Shakespeare’s work on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of his death in 2016.

The British Council – the UK’s international organisation for cultural and educational opportunities – is working with partners including the GREAT Britain campaign and a host of British theatres, museums, institutions, educators and artists. This will be an unprecedented programme of global activity from the UK that will include new productions of Shakespeare’s plays, as well as film adaptations, art exhibitions, public readings and educational resources for schools and English language learners of all ages.

Beginning in January 2016 and running all year, Shakespeare Lives will explore the work of the world’s most popular playwright in all cultures, engaging audiences overseas and in the UK with both William Shakespeare and the best of contemporary Britain. If you would like to find out more information about the programme please visit www.britishcouncil.org/shakespearelives.

As part of this programme, we are showcasing the UK as a centre for academic excellence in Shakespeare and the humanities.

We have offices in over 100 countries around the world, and we are anticipating great interest from colleagues across our network to invite academics from UK higher education institutions to speak on topics relating to Shakespeare during 2016.

Please complete the online application form to propose your academics for these talks. The information you give will be shared with our network of offices overseas, who can then invite your academics to speak at events in their country during 2016.

Please click here to go to the online application form.

If you would like to get involved in any other aspect of the Shakespeare Lives programme, please email shakespearelives@britishcouncil.org.

We look forward to sharing our celebration of Shakespeare with you in 2016.

Kind regards,

Rosemary Hilhorst
Director, Shakespeare Lives British Council
