Newton Bhabha PhD placement - Call announced

British Council, India in collaboration with Department of Biotechnology, India are pleased to invite applications for funding to support short-term PhD placements between the UK and Indian institutions.

The programme will sponsor UK and Indian PhD students to spend a period of their study (3 to 6 months) in Indian and UK higher education institutions taking place between April to December 2016. This scholar centered programme offers PhD students an opportunity for international exchange and enable them to learn valuable new skills or techniques, access facilities or resources not readily available in their home country and build relationships with potential new collaborators, including industry partners where relevant.

 

Priority areas:

  • Biological and medical sciences,
  • Engineering, Physical and Space Sciences
  • Environment, Agriculture and Food Sciences
  • Public Health and Well being

Costs covered

  • Visa fee, Economy class international airfares and overseas medical insurance incurred by PhD students.
  • In-country costs including accommodation and stipend for PhD students.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applications are invited from PhD students in the UK currently enrolled at a regionally accredited institution of higher education institute in the UK.
  • Applications are invited from PhD students in the India who have qualified any National level test and pursuing PhD in Biological and interface Sciences.

Key Dates

  • Deadline for receipt of applications: 7 December 2015
  • Selection results announced by 15 February 2016
  • Placements to take place between April 2016 to December 2016
