Law mission in India

SIEM, India is offering a Law mission targeting higher education Institutions that offer Law at the undergraduate and postgraduate level in the cities of Delhi and Pune.

The objective of the mission is to provide a platform to UK Institutions to establish stronger links via faculty discussion, collaborations on topics of mutual interest and recruitment.

The participating UK institutions will meet with Law faculty at the Indian institution, take part in round table discussions, and deliver presentations on specific topics to prospective students.

Why Law in Delhi and Pune?
Delhi has a market for study in the UK across various subjects and institutions. However, enquiry trends indicate that there is an increase in the number of enquiries for law courses and the way legal education used to be perceived traditionally has changed in the last few years with the emergence of new areas of study within the discipline. The demand for legal services in healthcare, intellectual property, venture capital, energy and environmental has brought about a sea-change in the way aspiring students look at law as a career.
India opening up to foreign direct investment has led to the corporate sector taking interest in the legal sciences. The popular fields of specialisation among students, these days, include cyber law, corporate law, environmental law, international trade law and human rights law. Students find good career prospects in the field as they can work in corporate organisations, international law firms, government agencies, or practice judiciary.

Pune located in Maharashtra state, is the eighth largest city in India. It boasts of the highest per capita income in the country and enjoys close proximity to Mumbai, the commercial capital. The literacy rate is about 81%, 1% higher than the national average.

Pune has more than a hundred educational institutes and nine universities, and has acquired a reputation of being called 'The Oxford of the East', with students from all over the world studying there. Pune has more schools, colleges and universities than any other city in the world. The popularity of legal education has increased with the establishment of prominent law schools.

ILS Law College has been ranked in the top ten law schools in the country. We have recorded an increase in interest in law courses coming from Pune. The institutions in Pune are some of the finest in the country and are always exploring opportunities for partnership and collaborations across a broad spectrum.
