Invitation for UK students to participate in Young Ambassadors Forum in Romania

Young Ambassadors Forum 2019 is a student-led project designed to provide a growing opportunity for young individuals interested in international relations, diplomacy, human rights law, international humanitarian law and advocacy. The event is organised by Romanian leading student NGO “Voluntari pentru Idei și Proiecte” in Bucharest on May 20-25th, 2019. This year’s topic is “Defending and being defended in the 21st century: freedom as the supremacy of human rights”. Since a multicultural environment is a prerequisite for understanding the mission of ”working for protecting”, the organisers plan on accepting up to 25 international participants. The event is destined for bachelor and master students, aged 18-25, with a genuine interest in the field of international relations, diplomacy, and especially for those who go beyond their passion and turn it into prospective career plans. Nevertheless, sixth form students are also welcome to apply. YAF is a context conducive to discussions and debates related to global issues. The project focuses on three approaches related to the topic proposed: • Defending as a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others; • Being defended – resilience as a tool for turning to each other and not on each other; • The World We Envision – upholding human rights close to home. The project provides its participants with essential information regarding the topic, while offering them a context for exercising their knowledge through practical workshops, debates, discussions and a final resolution. The speakers and the trainers are professionals with great expertise, most of them coming from diplomatic, political and NGO backgrounds, all being, formally or informally, advocates for human rights including several Bucharest based ambassadors and international organisations leaders.
