Host a delegation from Saudi Arabia

UK institutions are invited to express their interest in hosting a visit by senior representatives and faculty members from leading Saudi universities with expertise in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, Big Data and Health Informatics.

The delegation of between six and eight Saudi universities will visit the UK from 29–23 February.

About the visit

The visit aims to foster meaningful engagement and knowledge exchange between Saudi higher education institutions and their counterparts in the UK, specifically in the thematic areas mentioned above.

The delegation will embark on a journey across four diverse parts of the UK – Scotland, Northeast England, Wales and South England – examining areas of academic excellence, technological transfer and industry innovation firsthand. This itinerary aims to showcase the rich tapestry of expertise and diverse approaches to these thematic areas across the UK landscape.

The delegates will be primarily interested in exploring avenues for:

  • research collaboration: establishing joint research initiatives and partnerships
  • scholarship programmes: facilitating the exchange of knowledge and expertise through scholarship opportunities for Saudi students
  • student exchange: promoting cultural understanding and academic exchange through dedicated student exchange programmes.

Requirements

We kindly invite you to participate in this exciting initiative by suggesting a potential programme of meetings and interactions at your university.

Ideally, we envision sessions that:

  • facilitate in-depth discussions: encourage open dialogue and knowledge exchange between your faculty and the visiting delegation on research, teaching methodologies, and industry collaborations in your chosen thematic area(s)
  • showcase cutting-edge facilities and initiatives: provide the delegation with a glimpse into your cutting-edge facilities, laboratories, or student projects related to the chosen theme(s)
  • foster potential partnerships: create opportunities for exploring potential partnerships and collaborations between your university and the visiting institutions.

As each university has its unique strengths and focus areas, we welcome your creative input in shaping a programme that aligns with your expertise and resonates with the delegation's interests.

Potential programme elements could include:

  • panel discussions: featuring leading academics and industry experts from your university (or group of UK universities) and the visiting institutions
  • site visits: to research labs, innovation hubs, or start-ups working on the chosen thematic areas
  • student and faculty interactions: workshops, joint research presentations, or social events to foster connections and exchange ideas.
