The GREAT Britain campaign is the Government’s most ambitious international marketing campaign ever and showcases the very best of what Britain has to offer in order to encourage the world to visit, study and do business with the UK. It supports the Prime Minister’s ‘global race for growth’ and Olympic Legacy programme. The campaign is currently active in over 86 countries. Unifying the international growth promotion efforts of UK Trade & Investment, VisitBritain, British Council and FCO, GREAT aims to deliver significant and long-term increases in trade, tourism, education and inward investment in support of HMG’s prosperity and growth agenda.

The GREAT Scholarships - India, is a programme funded by GREAT funds and contributions made by UK Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), in order to encourage a larger number of Indian students choosing UK as their study abroad destination.

The GREAT scholarships were announced in November 2013 and were offered for 260 undergraduate and postgraduate courses ranging from Engineering, Law and Business to Art & Design, Biosciences and IT. 36 UK institutions across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland contributed towards the scholarships that are tenable for Sept 2014 and Jan 2015 intakes.

This year we aim to make the GREAT scholarships bigger and offer a larger number of awards. The bidding for the scholarships will open by end of June 2014. The management of these scholarships including the selection of the students will be done by the UK Higher Education Institutions. Maximum contribution from GREAT will be £ 10,000 per institution. UK Higher Education Institutions will have to contribute at least double the amount put in by the GREAT funds. Detailed terms and conditions will be shared in the bidding form.
