E-schools: establishment of a system for development of digitally mature schools in Croatia

CARNet (Croatian Academic and Research Network) has started the above project on E-schools aimed at raising the digital competencies of Croatian schools. It will enable digitally competent and research inclined students, eager to gain new knowledge and adjusted to the demand of modern education and the European labour market.

150 primary and secondary digitally mature schools around the country were selected and are now part of this pilot. CARNet has advertised a public procurement procedure for the above services aimed at these pilot schools. This project is one part of the wider educational reform which has already started (includes curricula reform, CPD, licencing of school directors).

Procurement of services for:

1) creation of teaching scenarios (including lesson plans and workbooks);

2) development of a digital competencies framework and

3) preparation, organisation and delivery of training in the use of ICT in STEM teaching for users and events linked to the community of practitioners.

Bidders can bid for delivery of one, two or all three groups of services. Focus is on the following subjects: mathematics, chemistry, physics and biology in the last two grades of primary school and first two grades of secondary schools. 150 pilot Croatian schools have been selected for which the training in LOT 3 is to be delivered.

Expected outcomes:

Lot 1: delivery of teaching scenarios for maths, chemistry, physics and biology based on the use of ICT. This will include workbooks and teaching manuals.

Lot 2: Local digital competency framework developed for head teachers, teachers and school administration based on analysis of European frameworks

Lot 3: 30,000 teachers and other education stakeholders participate in training sessions. These will include 1366 workshops, MOOCs and 4 webinars, training professionals on the use of ICT in schools for STEM subjects
