Consultancy opportunity in Iraq.

Consultancy opportunity to review, evaluate and revise to international standards the Operation and Control curricula delivered across two leading institutions in Iraq, learning materials and resources, training and assessment practice.

Value : £25,000 (inclusive of any travel, accommodation, material costs and inception workshop Erbil)
The British Council is looking to commission a leading UK skills provider to work with:

1. The newly established Petroleum Engineering department within Sulaimani Polytechnic University.
2. Basrah Oil Training Institute which has an existing education and training offer for the Oil and Gas sector.

The commissioned provider will work closely with both Institutions to review and revise the Operation and Control curriculum, learning materials, training and assessment practices. Aligning curriculum, assessment, materials and pedagogy to international standards and good practice, taking into account the current and future skills needs of the sector within Iraq. The partners will look to exchange and share knowledge, good practice models, resources and approaches; focused on improving industry engagement. Developing the competencies and capabilities of key staff within Sulaimani Polytechnic University and Basrah Oil Training Institute, thus leading to improvements of learner outcomes through the development of employment –oriented education and training offer.

The project is expected to be delivered over an eight month period, March – October 2016. The commissioned consultant or organisation will be expected to travel to Erbil, Iraq to hold a project development meeting with all the relevant project partners. The proposed scope of work:
• Project inception and stakeholder meeting;
• Review and analysis of existing curricula and institutional practices in the design, implementation and evaluation of curriculum, particularly in the development of competency-based curriculum for the oil and gas sector against international good practice models and standards;
• Curriculum and pedagogical revision, development of teaching and training materials and assessment processes, capacity building and knowledge exchange;
• Production of end of project evaluation report.
