Background:

The Institute is affiliated to Jadavpur University since 1963, which has a new Vice Chancellor in Professor Suranjan Das, and provides graduate and post graduate degrees to about 1800 students. It is a recognised women’s college in the region for its home science and commerce departments. The College has been awarded with an Autonomous Status by the University Grant Commission (UGC) in concurrence with the State Government and Jadavpur University from academic session 2013-2014.

2)    Opportunity for Research Collaboration on Flora and Fauna of North Eastern India:

Institute of Advanced Study in Science and Technology (IASST), Guwahati, Assam  is looking to establish institutional research collaboration (which includes joint research, faculty and student exchange) with research groups of UK Institutions which have specialisation in the following fields.

Some of the priority areas are wetland ecosystem / vertebrate and invertebrate biodiversity / agro ecosystem / agro-biodiversity under shifting agriculture of hills / gut microbial diversity of ethnic communities of North Eastern India and their association with diet, habit and genetic makeup / rhizosphere and plant interior bacterial diversity.                                                                                                           

Background:

IASST is a premier scientific research organisation in the North Eastern region of India, under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India as one of its autonomous R&D institutes.

The Institute is engaged in multi-disciplinary research activities, both in fundamental and applied, across areas such as Plasma Physics, Polymer Sciences, Statistics and Mathematics, Computational Sciences,  Natural Product Chemistry, Biochemistry, Nano-science, Seri biotechnology, Biodiversity, Ecosystem, Environmental Sciences and Microbial Biotechnology.

The Institute aims to generate scientific knowledge and technologies for utilisation of rich resources of North Eastern region and to contribute towards overall scientific and economic growth of the country.

Currently, there are around 23 scientists and 70 PhD students in the institute.
Equipped with good infrastructural facility for carrying out advanced research in various disciplines, IASST scientists have been collaborating with national and international (USA, France, Australia, Russia among others) researchers and have been producing quality research papers in national and international peer reviewed journals.

Research Institute of World’s Ancient Traditions Cultures and Heritage (RIWATCH) is looking for collaboration with UK researchers and institutions for development of academic courses, empowering ethnic communities and implementing projects of mutual benefit.

Background:

RIWATCH is a non-profit, non-governmental, community based research organisation demonstrating the ways in which cultural empowerment of ethnic communities is critical for sustainable development.  It is located in Arunachal Pradesh, a picturesque state in the North East region of India.

It facilitates national and international scholars to do qualitative research on cultural values, traditional knowledge and different aspects of ethnic life. RIWATCH has multiple national and international (currently with USA) research projects, engaged in developing courses on tribal studies for national and international scholars.
