Call for applications- Teaching fellow positions at Sciences Po, France

Sciences Po welcomes applications from post-doctoral and doctoral students close to their
thesis submission for teaching positions on one of its three Anglophone undergraduate
campuses in France: Reims, Menton or Le Havre. Each campus focuses on a world region and
offers a 3-year Bachelor of Arts degree in History, Political Science, Economics, Sociology
and Law. Courses are taught in English. The successful applicant’s area of expertise will be
relevant to the disciplines taught at Sciences Po and to the world region the campus focuses
on. Reims hosts two different programs, one focusing on North America and Europe, the other
on Africa and Europe http://college.sciences-po.fr/sitereims/. Menton’s program focuses on

1. Responsibilities. In addition to pursuing your research you will be asked to teach 3 courses
per semester. Course content will be agreed with the program director and will fall into two
categories:
“Electives”: 2 hours/week, up to 20-25 students, the topic can be defined depending on your
field of expertise.
“Tutorial seminars”: 2 hours/week, up to 20 students, these seminars are provided in addition
to a lecture given by a senior professor.
You will also be required to hold office hours (at least one hour per week).
2. Length of stay. Preferred start date: August 22nd, 2016. Priority is given to one full
academic year, but applications for one semester will be considered. Each term runs 12 weeks:

3. Compensation and benefits. Salary of € 1.600 /month (net, approximately $1.749) from
August 22nd 2016 to May 22nd 2017. Full health benefits through the French national
system. Once a week rail pass to Paris. Access to resources and facilities on all Sciences
Po campuses. The contract may be eligible for extension, subject to a performance review and
depending on institutional need.
4. Requirements. Successful applicants will have completed their PhD or about to submit
their doctoral thesis, in one of Sciences Po’s core fields (History, Political Science,
Economics, Sociology or Law). Their research and teaching interests should be relevant to
the regional focus of the chosen Campus. Teaching experience is strongly preferred and
English proficiency is mandatory. French or other non-English languages for advising,
research and teaching will be considered a plus.

brief statement of teaching experience and philosophy.
- Curriculum Vitae (including a list of publications)
- Course proposal(s). Brief summary of at least one course (or up to 3) with sample of
major readings/resources you could teach as an elective course.
- References. One letter of reference and contact information for two additional
referees, ideally professors who know your research and teaching.
