The British Council is the United Kingdom's international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. Over the years and the British Council has supported the work and professional interests of staff working in international recruitment and liaison at UK higher educational institutions.

As part of the commitment to the growth and prosperity of UK education, the British Council has added an additional Re-certification award to the already recognized British Council training.  The Re-certification award helps to ensures that education agents and counsellors remain up to date with the latest advice and requirements on all aspects of preparing international students for a UK education. The purpose of the training is to provide a practical and professional training programme for those who recommend the UK as a study destination to international students.

Launched in March 2021, certified agents and counsellors whose status as a ‘British Council Certified Agent or Counsellor’ has expired can now access our new ‘Re-certification award’ continuing their fully trained status, certifying them as a British Council Trained Agent or Counsellor.

Why is Re-certification important?

Re-certification demonstrates agents and counsellors’ ongoing commitment to international education and their engagement with the sector. Re-certification will ensure that agents and counsellors continue to feature on the British Council Global Agent and Counsellor list. 

The Global Agents and Counsellors List exists to inform the education stakeholders that the agents and counsellors are British Council certified and are recognised and trusted.
