Boarding Schools of India Tour - November 2019

Meet high potential future HE students and engage with faculty across the best boarding schools in India

___________________________________________________________________________

UK higher education institutions are invited to meet students face-to-face at premium boarding schools across India. UK HEIs will meet students interested in studying at the undergraduate level  in the UK or more generally in a foreign country next year. Participating delegates will get a chance to make a brief presentation about their institution, counsel students and meet faculty at each institution.

The Boarding Schools of India Tour is the first major event the British Council are organising after the announcement of the return of the 2-year post study work scheme called the Graduate Immigration Route. This comeback is expected to increase student numbers from India to the UK significantly. Students who earlier chose competitor markets like the USA, Australia or Canada for the opportunities they provide in post study employment will now prioritise applications to the UK, due the UK’s high-quality education standards. This is a crucial year for UK HEIs to differentiate themselves to Indian students and be their first choice. This event is a great start towards that.

Why should UK HEIs visit Indian boarding schools?

Indian residential schools have some of the highest potential international students in the country. The schools we have chosen, typically, have large numbers of students each year applying to study abroad. They also come from affluent families who can afford to fund their children’s studies abroad. They all have excellent English language skills and often look to past students and their school counsellors to influence their decisions about which country/ university or college to apply to.

As part of your recruitment strategy, boarding schools in India are not to be missed.

The HESA statistics indicate student enrolment has significantly increased in 2017-18. The registration was 18.4% higher than the previous year with an increase of 12.3% in undergraduate level.

It also shows that, Business & Administrative Studies, Social Studies, Biological Studies, Engineering & Technology, Computer Science, subjects allied to Medicine, Law, Creative Arts & Design, Dentistry and Architecture, Building & Planning are the top subjects preferred by Indian students at the UG level.

Why should you participate in this tour?

  • It will provide you a platform to promote your institution and showcase your courses at residential schools for recruitment or partnership purposes.
  • It will provide a forum where you can interact and counsel high potential and prospective students.
  • It will provide an opportunity where you can interact with school counsellors and other key faculty members to discuss future recruitment opportunities and collaborations.
  • It will provide an opportunity to raise your profile and develop a network with boarding schools across India.
  • It will provide you an opportunity to gain local market intelligence of the Indian schools and higher education landscape, student insight and mobility trends
  • Additionally, if requested by the host institution there will be an opportunity to convene a session on writing a statement of purpose.
