Use of mother tongue in basic education enacted into law
Along with the signing of the K to 12 Programme into law is the use of mother tongue as medium of instruction in basic education until Year 3, prior to the introduction of English. Local legislator cites studies that prove use of mother tongue in early years facilitates learning. Reports Phil Star
