Thai Vocational education is receiving a major boost

The Office of the Vocational Education Commission will be provided with more funds in the 2015 national budget, an increase from 624 million baht in the 2014 fiscal year.

The increased budget would be spent on promoting the value of vocational education among Thai students, upgrading Thailand’s vocational education to international standards, and enhancing the effectiveness of teachers.

The Office of the Vocational Education Commission has also developed a new curriculum at the higher-level certificate of vocational education in order to produce workforce for ASEAN. The curriculum comprises eight categories, with 50 fields of study, such as mechanical techniques, production techniques, accountancy, marketing, logistics, fine arts, and ceramics technology.

As for the courses at the higher-level certificate of vocational education, the top five fields of study that are popular among students include business computers, electrical power, mechanics, accountancy, and electronics.
