A survey of 36,000 students in India reveals new subject trends

A survey conducted by a private career solutions firm, CareerCo., of 36000 students from over nine cities indicates new subject interests showing a substantial growth in ‘Humanities’ with 74% opting for it.
Interestingly, subjects related to ‘Science’ and ‘Commerce’ were one of the most sought after amongst Indian students in the last decade. However the survey results reveal that ‘science with biology’ had only 11% takers, while ‘science with mathematics’ had 9% and ‘Commerce’ found only 6% takers of those surveyed.

Local college principals have also noticed this change and aren’t surprised with the survey results. Some have mentioned the career opportunities in Humanities are on a rise and students have now started opting for courses which focus on professional careers providing work options.
