Ghana

 Exams Updates 

• The Ghana Education Service (GES) says it has begun discussions with the West African Examination Council (WAEC) for the 2021 West African Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE) to be rescheduled for September/October. 

HE Institution Mergers 

• Government merges COTVET and NABPTEX : The Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (COTVET) and the National Board for Professional and Technicians Examinations (NABPTEX) have been officially merged. 
• Ghana Tertiary Education Commission replaces NCTE, NAB: The National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE) and the National Accreditation Board (NAB) have been merged under the new Education Regulatory Bodies Act 2020 (Act 1023). Director-General of the GTEC is Professor Mohammed Salifu and Professor Kwame Boafo-Arthur is the Board Chairman.

Nigeria

Movement and Restrictions

International travel has now partially resumed with limited amount of flights travelling to and from the country.

Travel advice

Inbound passengers to Nigeria are advised to use the international travel online portal to provide required health information, upload their pre-departure Covid-19 PCR test result, pay for a repeat Covid-19 PCR test to be carried out 7 days post-arrival and generate a QR code, which will be used for clearance upon arrival. https://nitp.ncdc.gov.ng/onboarding/homepage

School and University closures

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced that all primary and secondary schools in the state are to resume full academic activities from 21 September, while the tertiary institutions are to re-open for academic activities from 14 September (source: https://bit.ly/3gSXS8K)
