Spanish University can now offer 180 credit degrees

After Bologna, Spain decided for 240 credit HE degrees and 60 credit master degrees. In an attempt to internationalise Spanish HE system, the Government has passed a law for Universities to have the freedom to offer 180 and 240 ECTS credit Degrees, a much demanded reform which offers greater flexibility to Spanish Universities. This reform has immediate effect but it is unlikely that Spanish Universities will offer 180 credit degrees before 2016/17 academic year.

We do not envisage this will have any immediate effect on the attraction of the UK for Spanish Students (one of the 10 top sending EU countries to the UK and one of the very few where there has been a deep increment - 5%- from 2012/13 to 2013/14, according to latest HESA report) but may have a positive impact on agreements between Spanish and UK Universities for exchange of students and/or articulation programmes.

Included is the R.D in .pdf format but it has not been translated into English.
