Sixth International Conference on Innovative Computing Technology (INTECH 2016) in Pakistan

The 6th International Conference on Innovative Computing Technology i.e. INTECH 2016 was a three day conference in Islamabad from 19 September, 2016.

The event was hosted by the Artificial Intelligence Research Group from Islamia University Bahawalpur, in collaboration with Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, Digital Information Research Foundation (DIRF) UK and IEEE United Kingdom and Ireland Section.

INTECH 2016 gives an opportunity for institutes, research centres, engineers, scientists and industrial companies to share their latest researches, developments and ideas in areas of Innovative Computing Technology, which covers a lot of key topics.  A satellite event of INTECH 2016 was co-hosted at Dublin, Ireland. The conference also covered the challenges faced by the upcoming professionals regarding ICT an and was attended by more than hundred participants with a large number of international delegates.  The conference was inaugurated by the Minister for Education and Professional Training, Engineer Mian Muhammad Baligh-Ur-Rehman. Dr. Qaiser Mushtaq, the Vice Chancellor of Islamia University Bahawalpur was also present during the opening ceremony. The minister in his opening note stated how the IT industry in Pakistan is booming and the growing interests of developed nations in investing into Pakistan’s IT industry. Even at the government level, the budget for HEC has been increased to Rs.91 billion as compared to Rs.41 billion in the past.

A project around interuniversity telecommunications network and interconnection of primary and secondary schools is also underway. The project will connect the institutions through high speed fibre optic for efficient and effective communication. The Smart Universities project will interlink campuses of 100 universities through Wi-Fi and video link.
