Gujarat state government has conferred Centre of Excellence (CoE) status to seven education institutes, including six universities and one technical college across the Gujarat state

Center of Excellence means the college, institution or private university which delivers quality education, path breaking research, innovative teaching methodologies, quality extension services, high employability and entrepreneurship.  The list includes prominent universities across the state- Nirma University, CEPT University, Pandit Deendayal Energy University, Dhirubhai Ambani Institute of Information and Communication Technology, Ahmedabad University, Charotar University and Marwadi University

The state intends to boost, promote, and facilitate exchange of best practices in education domain specially in the areas of research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

The selected universities will now have to prepare a three-year action plan highlighting how their students will benefit from the same and their strategic investment proposal.
