Regulations for distance learning degrees recognition in Qatar

The list of regulations for distance learning degrees recognition in Qatar has been published;
In summary, students who start online degrees after 30 March 2017 can apply for pre-approval from the equivalency committee in Qatar before they start the course and their distance learning degrees could be recognised if it meets the following criteria, however the list of approved UK institutions haven’t been published yet.

• This is only applicable to students who started their online studies after 30 March 2017
• Students must apply for pre-approval from the equivalency committee in Qatar before they start the course.
• The equivalency committee will only consider distance and online learning courses from 4 countries namely the UK, the US, Australia and New Zealand

• For degrees from the UK, the university should be:
o approved by the local quality agency, such as the QAA in the UK
o its programme should be accredited by the relevant professional bodies
o listed in one of the world university rankings and ranked in the top 50 UK universities according to national ranking systems.

• The degree programme shouldn’t be of technical basis such as clinical, medical, engineering, biological sciences, etc.
• Fellowship programmes that would normally require full time attendance aren’t recognised for distance learning.
• Degree programmes delivered via distance learning should have an equivalent programme delivered on full-time basis.
