11 Taiwanese universities have been included in the QS 100 Asian University Ranking 2012. National Taiwan University heads the list at 20, its best performance since the ranking firstly complied. The other 10 universities are National Tsiung Hua University (31), National Cheng Kung University (37), National Chia Tung University (49), National Yang Ming University (50), National Central University (53), National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (54), National Sun Yat-Sen University (60), Taipei Medical University (64), National Taiwan Normal University (87), and Chang Gung University (92).

10 of the 11 universities are members of the Top Taiwan University Alliance, except Taipei Medical University. In total there are 29 Taiwanese universities placed in the top 300 list, including 20 public and 9 private.
