General Department of Vocational Training GDVT (State management of Vocational Education - under Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs MOLISA) is running a pilot in writing up National Occupational Skill Standards and in forming up a Sector Skills Council in Mining in Vietnam.

The agreement was reached in March when the MOLISA Minister and the Director General of GDVT paid a visit to the UK to look for UK partners in implementing its Skills Strategy 2012-2020 under the National Human Resources Development Strategy 2011-2020 which was ratified by Vietnam Prime Minister in late 2011.

ProSkills UK, the Sector Skills Council for the Process and Manufacturing Sector will be conducting a visit to Vietnam in early April to scope out the work they will be implementing with GDVT in the next twelve months. The project is facilitated by the British Council Vietnam under its Skills for Employability Project.
