The Philippines and 15 other countries in the Asia-Pacific Rim have established the Coalition for Green Economy (CGE) to bolster the role of Science and Technology (S&T) in Asia's march towards progress. They are members of the Science Council of Asia (SCA) such as Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, The Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Relatedly, reports from United Nations (UN) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) said that as the world confronts constraints in resources, the Asia-Pacific region can harnessed these challenges into opportunities and come out as a leader in green economy. The UN and ADB reports noted that it is in the Asia-Pacific region that challenges arising from resource constraints are most felt.
