Pakistani students won 'Breakthrough Award' at Formula Student 2017 in UK

Student group from NED University of Engineering and Technology, Pakistan have won “Breakthrough Award” at Formula Student UK’s competition which was held for the 30th time at Silverstone, United Kingdom.

Name of team which represented one of the prestigious universities of Pakistan: NED University of Engineering and Technology at the competition, was ‘Fusion” and had 16 team members. This competition was attended by juvenile engineers from 68 different countries and was organized by Institution of Mechanical Engineers – the world biggest student motor-sport event.

Formula student car built by the team competed with 85 international engineering universities from 65 different countries securing ‘Breakthrough Award’. This award was introduced for the first time in this mega event.

Engineering students from Pakistan not only accomplished vast recognition from the judges of motor sports but also received acknowledgement souvenir of BMW F1 aerodynamic part from F1 expert William Toet. At this four day event, Students from Pakistan showcased innovation, students’ talent and progression which the Pakistani students are making in the field of technology.  

According to the chairman of Formula Student, Andrew Deakin, it was brilliant to see so many teams from around the world applying for Formula Student 2017 and it showed that the competition remained one of the most important learning experiences for those aiming to combine their studies with exposure to a real world engineering project. The chairman further added: ‘Formula Student is a global competition and we want to continue to encourage brilliant young engineers from across the globe to improve their practical skills and get ready to play their part in vibrant worldwide engineering community every time and I’m extremely excited to see what they have in store for us this year.’
