New initiative to improve quality of Higher Education in India

The government of India in its continual effort to improve Higher Education in India has assigned NITI Ayog - National Institution for Transforming India, a Government of India Policy to recommend measures for improvement in the regulatory framework of the University Grants Commission (UGC). This is with an aim to enhance the quality of higher education in India.

NITI Ayog along with the Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development and the UGC are appointed to finalize a regulatory framework for setting up of 20 world-class institutions.

The selection of institutes for world class institutions will be made only once the guidelines and the regulations are finalized.
