The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research announced new condition for postgraduate courses at Jordanian universities, where any student seeking to apply for a PG course has to apply for an English proficiency test, i.e. IELTS, TOEFL iBT, or an equivalent language test set by each university.

For IELTS, the required scores as the following:

- Scientific subjects (Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Veterinary, all Engineering areas): minimum 6.5

- English literature and translation subject: minimum 6.5

- MBA and all other scientific areas: minimum 5.5

Moreover, should the student fails in the English proficiency test or is unable to apply for a test; the student can take pre-sessional English courses at the university where he received a conditional offer from.

Therefore, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research terminates placing the national English proficiency test.
