Nepal: School Leaving Certificate Examinations to begin from tomorrow

All preparations for the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) examinations, scheduled to be held from March 31 to April 11 across the nation, have been made by the Nepal government. The School Leaving Certificate, popularly abbreviated as SLC, is equivalent to the GCSE academic qualification in the UK.

As per the Office of the Controller of Examinations (OCE), a total of 615,553 students including regular, exempted and technical groups will appear for the SLC exams of 2016 at 1,943 exam centers. 53 per cent of the examinees are girls, which means there are slightly more girls than boys taking this year’s examination.

As discussed in more details in a previous news article, letter grading system is being introduced for the first time in the history of SLC examinations in the country. It is not however a complete transition as the answer sheets will be checked as per the traditional way of putting numerical marks.
