The National Institutional Ranking framework (NIRF) has announced the ranking of Indian institutions on 3 April 2017.  The ranking parameters have been grouped into five clusters and these clusters are assigned certain weightages. The main parameters for the ranking exercise are

1. Teaching, Learning and Resources
2. Research and Professional Practices
3. Graduation Outcomes
4. Outreach and Inclusivity
5. Perception

This is the second year the government of India has conducting the ranking of Indian institutions; the National Institutional Ranking Framework was launched in September 2015.

The ranking are classified separately for engineering institutions, management institutions, and pharmacy institutions

The government is trying to pitch Indian institutions at a global level aiming to gain partnerships with foreign institutions and at the same time attract International students to India.

SIEM India works closely with local institutions across India.
