Colleges in Mumbai are developing applications and softwares to keep its students informed about lectures, projects, admissions, examinations etc.
Further on, some colleges have digitised their books, libraries, college projects and study material.

This ‘digital’ attempt has been implemented as the UGC (University Grants Commission) has directed all colleges to digitalise their campuses as a contribution to the Digital India programme, a flagship initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi government
Lectures at these local colleges are also supporting the idea of virtual education and are taking measures to make their lectures and campuses digitally-enabled.
However, despite the UGC order, it is estimated that more than 350 universities are yet to provide details of their broadband and Wi-Fi connectivity.

SIEM team , India will be making the most of this initiative and is planning to release a calendar of virtual lecture series across India in popular subject areas. This opportunity will have sessions delivered by the UK academics through web platforms to students sitting in their classrooms in India. This allows UK institutions to not only build their profile across educational institutions in India cities, but also recruit potential students by showcasing their courses and teaching.

With the Indian government taking initiatives to improve its digital capacities, virtual guest lectures will certainly be acceptable both conceptually and technically by Indian institutions.
