Student US visa issuances increase by 40% this year by Hindustan Times
The US Embassy in New Delhi celebrated Student Visa Day on 19 June. The embassy staff was dressed informally and greeted students who were present on the day to apply for their student visas. Representatives from the Education USA Centre at the United States-India Educational Foundation (USIEF), an international foundation dedicated the day to higher education in US and India and provided tips to students on life in US universities. Michael Pelletier, embassy charge d’affaires said that they have seen a record number of visa applications from Indian students. As per the officials , the student visa issuances have increased by 40% this year compared to the same period last year.

Australia among top 3 choices for Indian students by IBN
Australia continues to be one of the top three destinations of choice for Indian students due to its academic quality and education system, a senior Australian diplomat said on Friday. The article by IBN quotes Sean Kelly, Australian Consul-General for South India mentions that many Indian students preferred to study in Australia for migration and have permanent residency, nowadays the system and quality education now was attracting Indian students. The article also mentions that out of 3.90 lakh International students from more than 190 countries, 38,000 were Indians which makes India the second largest source country after China.

From MOOC to Shining MOOC by Inside Higher Ed
MOOCs have become one of the United States’ major educational exports. In the first year of MOOCs offered by Harvard and MIT through the online education site edX, two-thirds of the enrollees hailed from outside North America. Now, some online education advocates argue that MOOCs can lure international students to colleges and universities in the U.S. The University of Pennsylvania has developed a MOOC precisely for this purpose: a course titled “Applying to U.S. Universities.” And the State Department has woven online courses into its international education agenda, with the hope that MOOC-driven outreach programs will entice foreign students to study in the U.S.
