Market of overseas study tours need to be regulated

The reporter interviewed several experts including Sun Hongyan, president of China Youth and Children Research Center, about the market for overseas study tours. The number of students taking part in overseas study tours is about 200,000 to 300,000 annually. About 80 per cent are organised by education authorities or schools. About the other 20 per cent are individuals. Primary and high schools in Beijing are not allowed to arrange overseas commercial study tours through tourism companies, according to a new regulation issued by the municipal government. The city's education commission said that overseas exchanges between schools should be organised by eligible agencies and agreements should be signed. Reports by Xin Hua Net
