Kazan State Medical University, a 200 year old Russian institution has proposed to sign agreements with Indian medical universities and hospitals to impart medical training to its Indian students.

The decision to sign the agreement is based on the fact that there are 565 Indian students (largest number of international students), currently studying at the university. Led by Chancellor Alexey Sozinov, a team from the university was in India and visited Indian hospitals and government institutions. The visit had three objectives – to find suitable programmes for Indian students, explore opportunity for faculty exchange and understand criteria so that it can be met at Kazan University.  Agreement has already been signed with Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry and Dr. MGR Medical University, Tamil Nadu.
