For students interested in pursuing postgraduate degrees in the UK, the Government of UK has further increased the number of scholars sent on the Chevening Scholarship from Pakistan.

With 73 Chevening scholars in the year 2015, this number has now increased to 81 for the year 2016. The Chevening Scholarship is fully funded by the Government of UK which allows scholars to get enrolled in postgraduate courses of their own choice in the UK.

Addressing the pre-departure event organised in Islamabad, British Deputy High Commissioner, Patrick Moody announced the increase in numbers for Chevening scholars being sent from Pakistan to the UK for higher studies. He added: “The Chevening programme not only brings immediate benefits for the individual scholars, in terms of future career prospects and development; however, it also provides long-term benefits for both Pakistan and the UK as well.”

This is the first time that a scholar from Balochistan will be joining a university in the UK on Chevening-British Library Fellowship and from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, a scholar will study in the UK on Chevening-Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies (OCIS) Fellowship.
