The Institute of International Education (IIE) hosted a meeting on alumni engagement as part of their Global Education Diplomatic Network. Here are three best practices that came out of the panel discussions:

1. Build a long‐term connection with alumni through “light touch” engagement efforts that does not require your alumni to make a significant commitent.

2. Recognize and utilize alumni as experts, future employees, future employers, and mentors through high-level events and inviting them to represent your university at a fair.

3. Actively work across programs and institutions to incorporate alumni in the comprehensive alumni initiative.
