Government of Pakistan announced plan to resume examinations from June 2021

It was decided by Inter-Provincial Education Ministers’ Conference (IPEMC) that secondary (matriculation) and higher secondary (intermediate) exams in Pakistan will be conducted in June 2021. It was unanimously agreed in the meeting of IPEMC with Federal Education Minister, Shafqat Mahmood. The meeting was chaired by the federal education minister and attended by education ministers and secretaries from all federating units.

According to the early reports, the government plans to commence matriculation and intermediate exams in the country from 20 June 2021. The exact exam dates will be announced by the provincial education boards in the coming days.

From 24 May, National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) has allowed opening of schools in areas where the Covid-19 positivity rate is within 5%. [1]

British Council Pakistan and Federal Ministry of Education and Professional Training have decided to conduct special O Level examinations from 26 July to 06 August 2021. In the notification from the ministry, it was stated that British Council is authorized to conduct mini exam series subject to approved Covid-19 precautionary SOPs.

Federal Education Minister, Shafqat Mehmood tweeted, “We issued an NOC today to British Council allowing it to hold special O Level exams from July 26 to August 6. This will facilitate O Level students to start A Level or FA/FSC from September. This kind of exam in July is unprecedented and I am happy that Cambridge is arranging it.”

All examinations were earlier postponed due to sudden surge in Covid-19 positive cases in the country. [2]
