Generic criteria for Qatari government lists 2017

Following a recent meeting with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education in Qatar, SIEM team has compiled the following to address the most frequently asked question related to the recently published government lists.

What is the criteria followed in amending the lists as reported by the MoE?

Firstly, the university should fulfil one of the following criteria related to university ranking:
1- The university is ranked among the top 600 and 800 universities in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings to be listed on the scholarship list and self-funded list, respectively; OR
2- The university is ranked among the top 60 universities by “The Times and the Sunday Times” and “The Good University Guide” for UK Universities

After passing the ranking criteria, the university is assessed based on the suitability of the educational environment with respect to quality assurance. The university is excluded from the list when one or more of the following practices, which do not comply with the Equivalency Office standards in Qatar, were recorded:
1- Awarding the degree through a third party based on articulation agreements between the university and the awarding body
2- Admitting students at branch campuses; according to the equivalency office, only programmes taught at the main campus can be recognised.
3- Clusters of Qatari students at the university
4- Applying admission criteria to the academic programmes offered at the university that does not meet the standards of certificate equivalency in Qatar
5- Adopting criteria for bridging and accepting advanced entry into academic programmes offered by the university in a way
