Focus on education, agriculture and sports by the Australian High commissioner to India

The Australian High Commissioner to India Harinder Sidhu’s recent visit to North India has created a positive steer of collaborations and growth between the two countries.  His speech at Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Chandigarh was very influential for two states of India i.e. Punjab and Haryana.

Mr Sindhu announced an MoU in the infrastructure sector with an aim to provide expertise in developing the Smart cities led by Queensland University of Technology, Australia. He also discussed the major education subjects of focus between the two countries will be construction, electrical, healthcare, hospitality and automotive skills.

Indian states are very welcoming towards foreign collaborations on mutually benefiting areas such as skill development, education and student mobility.

Exploring collaborative opportunities is an effective way to enhance market intelligence and brand awareness in the country. UK institutions that are interested in exploring collaborative opportunities in specific subjects or wish to focus on specific regions/cities in India should get in touch with shruti.khanna@in.britishcouncil.org with cc siemsouthasia@britishcouncil.org
