About the British Business Awards

The British Business Awards were originally established in 2008 and are held every two years. They have since developed into a significant event, recognising and promoting excellence in innovation, enterprise and endeavor in the British business community in China.

This year marked the addition of a new award category – the Education Institutional Partnership of the Year – which is sponsored by the British Council and aimed at celebrating the achievements of UK institutions that have established joint projects with their counterparts in China, through which significant impact has been delivered in the last 18 months. The judging criteria requested evidence of a significant impact and exceptional performance in at least three of the following areas: innovation, teaching, employability, student experience, industry links, alumni relations, development, civic engagement, and research.

The British Business Awards 2016 are supported by the British Consulate-General Shanghai, the British Council, the British Chamber of Commerce in China, the Confederation of British Industry, the China-Britain Business Council, the City of London, Manchester China Forum, Visit Britain, and the GREAT Britain Campaign. Patron of the 2016 British Business Awards is Barbara Woodward, Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China.
