Following a review of government funding, it has been announced that the English Schools Foundation (ESF) will maintain its subsidy for the upcoming year. However, tuition fees at Hong Kong’s 21 ESF schools are set to rise by an average of 4 per cent in 2012-2013. Last year, fees at ESF schools rose by an average of 2.8 per cent.

The ESF is also pushing for more funding to meet the rising demand for places at its Jockey Club Sarah Roe School, for students with special educational needs. The school has a current waiting list of 55, writes Dennis Chong for South China Morning Post
