ESSEC, French business school opens in Singapore

Singapore has recently seen the development of a number of new campuses, as foreign education institutions continue to establish a presence here.

One example of new local provision is ESSEC, which has opened its first overseas campus in Singapore on 4 May. ESSEC is a 108-year-old French business school that now has a new S$40 million, five-storey campus that is able to accommodate up to 1,500 students annually.

The institution will run a range of postgraduate programmes including an Executive MBA and an Executive Education course. In addition to the postgraduate programmes and executive education, they are offering the Global BBA too. This is an interesting programme targeting Singaporean students who are keen to pursue a career in international business in the future. Students taking the ESSEC Global BBA will study in both the Singapore and French campus, and spend at least one semester in a study exchange at one of ESSEC's 115 partner universities across the world.

The four-year course will be taught in English, with tuition fees at approximately S$18,200 a year. The target is to start with 50 students in September 2015 and increase the number to 100 a year. This may be an interesting choice for students in Singapore who can speak French or others who are drawn by the international exposure this programme offers.

This means Singapore’s higher education provision continues to diversify, even as UK, Australian, and US provision offers prospective students a wide variety of course to choose from.
