Dhaka has been globally ranked second in terms of having the most active Facebook users in the world according to Global Digital Statshot Q2 report for 2017. Only Bangkok has recorded more Facebook log ons than the 22 million in Dhaka.

Dhaka is the third most densely populated mega city in the world, with 23,234 people living per square km area, according to World Population Review.

Jakarta holds the third position on active facebook users with 22 million users followed by Mexico City (17 million), Sao Paulo (13 million), New Delhi (13 million), Lima (13 million), Istanbul (12 million), Cairo (12 million) and Ho Chi Minh (11 million).

According to Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission, as of February 2017, Bangladesh had over 67 million internet users, of whom around 63 million are accessing the web on their mobile phones. There are130 million mobile users in Bangladesh.
