Competitor news: Singapore, Germany and France recruit more and more Indian students

A recent study by ASSOCHAM reveals that Indian students are happy to spend on their Higher Education in order to look for better employment opportunities. The report also highlights that a very small percent of Indian student population prefers to return home and is keen to look for employment opportunities globally.

The increase in number of Indian students choosing to go abroad to study has risen by 20-25% and students are willing to look for new destinations for higher education. Indians spend about $6-7 billion every year in sending their children abroad for higher education.

As per the study, more than 2.9 lakh Indians went abroad in 2013 and the count shot up to 6.8 lakh this year. This is possibly due to reasons like lack of quality of education in country, better opportunities abroad and improved lifestyle, adds the paper. Students are now willing to explore destinations like Singapore, Germany, France, Canada, Ireland, China etc.

The UK has been one of the top choices for Indian students along with USA and Australia. Indian students seek admission at UK institutions to make the most of its high quality education standards and the global employment opportunities this opens up. To promote study opportunities offered by your institution to Indian students, please write to Shruti Khanna at Shruti.khanna@in.britishcouncil.org and choose from an array of marketing offers by SIEM India.
