Committee formed for alternate academic calendar for higher education: India

With COVID-19 completely upsetting the Indian academic calendars, the Indian government has formed a seven member panel to work on a contingency plan for the higher education sector. The aim is to provide guidance on an alternate academic calendar, ways to conduct exams for colleges and universities, new vacation schedules and result announcement. The committee is also mindful of and is looking at career and internship prospects for the students.

Conducting online exams is a remote possibility due to lack of mechanism and infrastructure. There is a possibility to hold exams till June 2020.

The committee was supposed to submit a report on 13 April which is still pending. More updates will be shared as the government makes further announcements.
