Lockheed Martin is currently seeking two candidates for their Space Fundamentals Training Program. (SFTP). SFTP was established in 2015 as the means of inspiring students to enter the space/aerospace field and provide them with space education and professional development. Over the course of 8 weeks, students complete a 5-week online curriculum developed by Lockheed Martin as well as a 3-week travel component that includes hands-on instruction, networking opportunities with industry professionals and practicum experience. This year’s program will expand opportunities to students from 5 countries around the world and will feature a 3-week travel component that will take students to Denver, Colorado and Washington, DC. The UK has been selected as one of the countries for the program and LM is therefore seeking two British student candidates  to participate in the program. To qualify, students have to be an upper undergraduate British student currently attending a US university on a student visa. The students do not need to come from a strict aerospace background and can come from any engineering-related discipline. The overall program begins on June 20, 2016 and officially concludes on October 10, 2016.

Any student interested in applying for the program should submit the following forms:

•           Candidate Information form (attached)
•           Resume or CV
•           Statement of Interest by the candidate
•           Two letters of recommendation
•           Proof of J-1 Visa
•           Copy of valid passport.

The UK Space Agency will review and select two UK candidates, and therefore any interested students should direct their application packages to UKSA representative Katharine Bowden at Katharine.Bowden@ukspaceagency.bis.gsi.gov.uk. The deadline for submission is Thursday, May 26^th and candidates will be selected no later than Thursday, June 2^nd. While the UK Space Agency will assist in selecting a candidate, the UK Space Agency and the British Government are not responsible for the content of the courses nor for any costs related to the program. All legal agreements related to the program will be between the candidate and Lockheed Martin.
