Brunei: Building a competent workforce in the Energy, Oil and Gas industry

The Brunei Government has announced that the energy sector in Brunei would need about 50,000 workers (5,000 professionals and 35,000 skilled and semi-skilled) by 2035. Therefore, to ensure that this target could be met, the Energy Department at the Prime Minister's Office is currently developing a competency framework to identify training needs for workforce in the energy, oil and gas industry in Brunei. If all goes according to plan, the framework, which will be known as “Energy Industry Competency Framework for Energy, Oil and Gas” would be ready by the end of 2012.
