The government has given approval to two more private universities.

The universities are Bandarban University and Shah Makhdum Management University. With these two new universities, the number of private universities in the country now stands at 101.

This is an indication that there is a capacity crunch at home, and the government is giving extra effort to increase the number of HEIs. But quality of education in the private universities has always been questioned.

With not enough high quality HEIs available locally, Bangladeshi students are increasingly considering going abroad for higher studies. UK continues to be a popular draw and we encourage UK institutions to make the most of this opportunity.
