The Asian Development Bank will lend $1.72 billion to the Philippines for development projects

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will lend $1.72 billion to the Philippines from 2013-2015, as part of its Country Operations Business Plan (COBP). Seven firm projects in the pipeline will be financed by this loan in the next three years. 

The education sector is one of the major concentration areas of the loans/ funding. The Education Improvement Sector Development Program (for 2014) will be financed $300 million.  Improving higher education (2014) in the country will receive a grant of $0.6 million, while the Strengthening Higher Education Sector Development Program (2015) will receive a grant of $1.3 million from ADB, writes Cai Ordinario for Rappler.
