Admission rate for Gaokao falls

The number of students taking the Chinese national college entrance exam or ‘Gaokao’ has fallen by two per cent from last year. The reason behind this decrease can be seen by an increasing number of students under 18 choosing to study abroad rather than take the gaokao. Out of 9.15 millions students taking part in this year’s college entrance exam an average of 75 per cent are expected to be admitted to university, according to the Ministry of Education.
