50% increase predicted in number of Indian students going overseas: USA and UK are the favourites

There has been a surge of Indian students going to the United States of America and the United Kingdom to pursue under-graduate and post-graduate studies. These numbers are expected to increase by 50 per cent over the next five years based on a research conducted by a Singapore based education technology organisation.

Educational placement experts owe this increase in numbers due to increase in family incomes of Indians and also to the Indian students’ growing aspirations  to acquire an international degree which they perceive not only as a value add to their educational qualifications but also places them in the top range of professionals, both in India and globally.

There are several opportunities for UK institutions to reach out to these potential students. British Council offers a range of promotion opportunities for UK institutions to generate interest in their courses amongst Indian students.  To know more about our bespoke services, please send an email to Shruti Khanna and Cc to siemsouthasia@britishcouncil.org to know more.
