Malaysia is the UK’s second largest TNE market and one of the leading senders of international students to the UK.

After peaking at 18,395 in the 2015/16 academic year, the number of Malaysian HE students in the UK has been in decline since, amidst a falling student-age population, rising quality of domestic provision, and increasing competition from other study destination, notably Australia.

However, the fast-paced economic growth expected over the next decade is likely to increase HE participation rates, which should in turn boost demand for study abroad and high-quality TNE, especially at postgraduate level.
